Westover Council votes in favor of gross sales tax, raises for mayor, council members

Service/different B&O taxes generated $328,371 in FY 2022 and $381,882 in FY 2021. Taxes generated from banking and monetary establishments introduced in $17,361 in FY 2022. 

In different information from Monday’s assembly, council forged a 3rd and last vote to approve constitution modifications elevating the pay for the positions of mayor and council member. 

Starting July 1, 2024, the mayor’s pay will soar from $55,000 to $75,000. The mayor will even be included in future cost-of-living raises permitted by council. 

Council voted 6-0 to approve the elevate, with Councilor Jeff Pal abstaining. 

Members of council are paid per assembly. The per-meeting charge will improve from $80 to $120. 

Council voted 4-0 to approve, with councilors Pal, Edie Viola and Ally Jackson abstaining.  

Lastly, at $27,250 B&D Transport was the bottom of three bidders to put a concrete pad for the brand new concession stand in Westover Park.
